San Diego County will pay almost $8 million to man gravely injured in sheriff’s custody

A settlement was reached in case of gravely injured Frankie Greer

The $7.75 million settlement with Frankie Greer — an Army vet, musician, and mechanical engineer before his injury — is the latest multimillion-dollar payout to a person who was injured or died while in the San Diego Sheriff’s custody. But the settlement will not deter Iredale and Yoo from continuing to press for answers. "We represent many impacted families and victims of civil rights violations who deserve to know the truth," said attorney Julia Yoo.

“The conduct of the Sheriff’s Department that led to this tragedy was the product of systemic failures in training and supervision for many years,” said Eugene Iredale, one of the attorneys who represented Greer. Read more about this case and the others Iredale and Yoo are pursuing.
